How to prepare for your family trip in the Alps?

You decided to spend some family time in the Alps for the holidays? What a great idea! Ski resorts have now everything you need to please the whole family. All you have to do is plan your holidays to make the best of it. Here are some tips on how to properly plan your family trip to enjoy perfect holidays.

Make reservations in advance

The best tip we can give you to prepare your holidays in the Alps is to plan it in advance. Indeed, it can be a little crowded in big ski resorts and even more when children are on holidays. So, to make sure that you get the accommodation you want in Les Menuires, Chamonix, Val Thorens or any other resort, you’d better book it early.

When you have booked your appartment or chalet, you can book several other things. If possible, try to book your ski passes in advance. This will allow you to avoid to wait on your first day there and sometimes, there are some promotions when you book online. You can also book your ski equipment. When you need some for the whole family, you want it to be ready and for everyone to have everything they need to spend some good time. The earlier you make the reservation, the more sure you are that everyone will have the best equipment possible.

Check the available activities

To continue with the planning of your family holidays, you can look up the activities available in the ski resort you are going to. Very often, family activities are offered and even if you don’t ski during the whole trip, you’ll find plenty other things to do. You can discover new sports, go for a hike in snow shoes and discover nature in the mountains, or you can even enjoy some relaxing time at the swimming pool for example.  You can also check if there are any shows, festivals… that take place during your stay.

Plan for the long term

If you plan on visiting a ski resort regularly in the years to come, maybe you should think about buying a place there. In the long run, you might save quite a lot of money. It might be worth looking for some properties for sale in Les Menuires, Les Arcs, Val Thorens or other big ski resorts with plenty to do.

Also if you ski a lot and go on a ski trip regularly, you might think about buying the equipment instead of renting it. You will be able to save money very rapidly. However, for children, it is not a great idea to buy anything as they grow so fast. Continue renting until they reach a stable growth.
